Tim Andrew, General Manager, ATMs and Self Service, NAB Direct Banking
Tim Andrew is the General Manager of ATMs and Self Service for NAB Direct Banking, a portfolio that includes self service telephone banking and the systems that enable NAB’s contact centres. The portfolio manages the experience for over 130 million customer interactions a year.
Prior to his current appointment, Tim held a number of leadership roles at NAB including Executive Manager for Personal Banking, Head of Marketing, Business and Private Banking; Program Manager for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games sponsorship and Sponsorship Manager.
Before joining NAB, Tim was Sales Manager for Cricket Australia and National Sales Manager for Corporate Sports Australia.
Tim enjoys sailing and spending time with his wife and four children.
Winston Chen, CEO, Angusta Systems
Winston Chen is CEO of Angusta Systems, which was founded to provide specialist analytics to minimize the cost of wholesale cash while managing the circulation of cash inventory within large networks of ATMs, bank branches, depot vault centers, and retail merchants. Prior to this, Winston was Executive for Cash Operations at the Commonwealth Bank, the largest network in Australia. From his time there, he identified cash optimisation routine problems that players across the industry were all similarly facing.
In strategy, Winston was appointed as one of two industry representatives assigned to work with Reserve Bank of Australia during the transition period following wholesale cash deregulation to craft the Deed that currently governs the rules and regulations of the retail bank’s wholesale cash pools. He was also the key architect of the notes penalty/incentives regime which was instrumental in ensuring the retail banks kept their risk free rate of interest compensation from the RBA.
Winston has also served the financial services industry for over 15 years, first as a management consultant beginning his career with Accenture and by leading strategic and efficiency reviews that typically involved strategic analysis, business case feasibility, process design and reengineering, and execution planning. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (IIT Chicago) and MBA (Australian Graduate School of Management)
Danielle Curry, Head of ATMs, Retail Distribution, ANZ
Over the last 12 years, Danielle has worked in a range of Marketing and Sales roles in the Financial Services and Utility industries. She is currently the Head of ATM Banking in the Australian Retail Distribution business. Former roles at ANZ include Head of Telesales for Consumer Finance leading a 250 seat sales call centre and Head of Acquisition in Credit Cards driving credit card growth.
Danielle holds a Bachelor of Business, Graduate Certificate in Direct Marketing and a Masters in Marketing from RMIT. In 2010 she will be ANZs Williamson CLP Fellow. She also has a strong interest in the NGO sector, being a non Executive Board Director for GSYFS a not for profit focussing on women and children, founding Given the Chance a refugee recruitment program for ANZ and being a Big Sister on the Big Brother Big Sister program for the last 8 years.
Michael Ebstein, Director, MWE Consulting
Following a career in the plastics packaging industry, Mike Ebstein joined ANZ in 1988 and in 1989 was appointed General Manager Marketing of the newly established credit card business. Mr Ebstein was the 2IC of a foundation team charged with turning around what was then a large loss generating concern.
In the next 10 years, credit cards became recognised as one of ANZ’s crown jewels, doubling its market share and becoming a key profit contributor to the bank. Mr Ebstein’s initiatives included the first purchasing card in Australia; the first card to offer free international travel insurance; and the launch of the most successful co-branded reward cards then seen – the Telstra and Qantas Telstra Visa cards.
Formed by Mike in 1999 after leaving ANZ, MWE Consulting has become established as an independent consultant in payment products as well as the publisher of the MWE Payment Card Reports in Australia and New Zealand.
Andrew Jamieson, Technical Manager, Witham Laboratories
Andrew manages all technical work performed by Witham Laboratories, and has personally completed a large number of PCI PED evaluations, as well as APCA PED and ATM evaluations. Andrew represents Witham Laboratories at the PCI PED lab meetings, and in this capacity contributes to the content of the PCI PED standards. He sits on the Advisory and Fraud Committees of the Australian Payments Clearing Association, and is qualified as a Qualified Security Assessor by the PCI Security Standards Council.
Sharon Lu, Business Analysis and Development, Angusta Systems
Sharon is leading the Business Analysis and Development at Angusta Systems, which was founded to provide analytics to minimize the cost of wholesale cash while managing the circulation of cash inventory within large networks of ATMs, bank branches, cash centers, and retail merchants. She is a specialist in cash distribution industry structures, with extensive research analysis of the emerging market trends in Europe, Australasia and the Americas. Sharon currently consults to clients in emerging economies on restructuring, process reengineering and implementation of their cash operations and SLA management. She is a member of the Institute of Analytics Professional Australia, holds a B. Commerce (Finance)/Arts (Asian Studies) from the University of Sydney, and has a strong interest in entrepreneurship.
Rohan Martin, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Customers ATM
Whilst Rohan is relatively new to the world of ATMs and commenced his career as an accountant with KPMG, he holds senior corporate affairs and communications experience across of range of industries and organisations, including gambling monolith Tabcorp, Australia’s largest insurance intermediary iSelect, government and the transport industry.
His responsibilities at Customers include investor and government relations, media management and marketing. Rohan holds post graduate qualifications in Business Management and Marketing, and is chair of the ATMIA Government Relations Committee.
Red O'Connor, Country Risk Manager, VISA AP
Red O'Connor is the Country Risk Manager for Australia and joined Visa in Oct 2009.
Red joined Visa with twenty years experience in Transaction Banking, Merchant Processing and Acquiring Fraud Risk.
His experience includes transaction banking with Lloyds Bank NZA limited and fifteen years with National Australia Bank Ltd. At National Australia Bank Red held various positions including Manager Merchant Operations for the NSW & QLD regions and the NSW & QLD branch of the NAB Merchant Fraud Unit in Sydney. Prior to joiing Visa he spent three years at first Data International as the Senior Fraud Analyst with their Fraud Risk Management Services team.
Red is an established and recognised member of the Australian card fraud prevention industry and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Visa.
Dr Brad Pragnell, Head of Industry Policy, Australian Payments Clearing Association (APCA)
Dr Brad Pragnell joined APCA as Head of Industry Policy in May 2008. He was previously with the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) where he held a number of roles including Deputy CEO and Director of Policy and Industry Practice. Brad has eighteen years of policy research experience - having also held policy research roles with CPA Australia, the University of Sydney and the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
Originally from Canada, he has a PhD from the University of New South Wales, a Master’s of Industrial Relations from Queen’s University (Canada) and BA (Advanced) from the University of Manitoba.
John Simon, Chief Manager of Payments Policy Department, Reserve Bank of Australia
John Simon is Chief Manager of Payments Policy Department at the Reserve Bank of Australia. He joined the department and started work on payments system issues at the bank approximately six years ago, prior to which he worked in the Economic Analysis and Economic Research Departments of the Bank. He was closely involved in the development of the ATM industry reform package. He has a PhD from MIT.
Clint Walker, Chief Operating Officer, Customers ATM
Clint has almost 15 years' experience in the payments and financial services industry. He is responsible for all key operational aspects of the Customers ATM fleet. His career includes a range of operational and strategic roles at National Australia Bank in Australia, the US and the UK as well as financial services consulting at Deloitte. Clint holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM).
